Overview:This work explores connection and separation through the act of fastening and unfastening a button. A fabric form representing a baby is connected to a form representing the placenta by an umbilical cord-like form, with a clay button at its end that fits into a buttonhole on the baby’s side. The work expresses the enduring bond and pull between mother and child despite their physical separation, evoking a subtle sense of nostalgia for the connection they once shared.
